With ClearType font technology, the words on your computer screen look almost as sharp and clear as those printed on a piece of paper.</p>

<p>Researchers at University of Texas <a href="http://www.ischool.utexas.edu/~ct/" title="Study by UFT">investigated</a> the user response to Microsoft&#8217;s ClearType font enhacement technology. In 3 different study, they found that ClearType is beneficial to most people who are performing scanning and readings tasks on the computer. </p>
<p>According to Jakob Nielsen, ClearType technology that is included in XP probably <a href="http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20020203.html" title="Reading speed incresed my 15%">increases reading speed by somewhere between 10% and 15% for users with flat screens</a>.</p>
<p>ClearType is turned off by default in new installations of XP.</p>
<p>If you have Windows XP, you can turn ClearType on by:</p>
<ol>
<li>Right-click on your Desktop and select Properties</li>
<li>Click the Appearance tab</li>
<li>Click the Effects button</li>
<li>Click the checkbox by Use the following method to smooth edges of font screens</li>
<li>Select ClearType from the drop down box</li>
<li>Click OK</li>
</ol>
