My friend Rahul asked my help to create his photo blog. He was looking for something simple, clean like my fotolog and easy to use photo blogging software. WordPress was not an option. WordPress is the best blogging application, but it requires hundred of hacks before it works as photo blog. I created my fotolog using WordPress 1.2 but I did not upgraded to latest version because of hacks.

Comparing different blogging software, I decided to redesign my fotolog using PixelPost. In my opinion, it is the best photo blogging application. It is installed and run on your personal server like WordPress. You an upload picture through admin section and all pictures are stored on the server. It takes less than 10 minutes to install and configure everything. Also you can download templates and addons(plug-in) designed by other users. I also created multiple addons like clean URL, monthly archive and Flickr Links.

Google’s new IM Service “Google Talk” is Live

Google’s new IM service that they are announcing tomorrow is live. You can login using your GMail account. Use Jabber-compatible instant messaging client such as Jabber, Gaim, or Apple’s iChat.

Server:: talk.google.com
Username:: youremail@gmail.com **OR** youremail@talk.google.com
Password:: yourpassword

How to set it up with GAIM on Windows:

Add an account, select “Jabber” as the protocol.
Your screen name is everything before the ‘@gmail.com’.
Server is ‘talk.google.com’ as listed above.
Click “show more options” and make sure “use TLS if available” is checked. Leave “Force old SSL” and “allow plaintext…” unchecked for now. Connection port should be 5222, connection server should be blank… if not just ‘talk.google.com’ without the quotes.
Just login and you should be good-to-go.

And they don’t even suggest to install Mozilla Firefox in the error message.
