He was looking for something simple, clean like my fotolog and easy to use photo blogging software. WordPress was not an option. WordPress is the best blogging application, but it requires hundred of hacks before it works as photo blog. I created my fotolog using WordPress 1.2 but I did not upgraded to latest version because of hacks.

Comparing different blogging software, I decided to redesign my fotolog using PixelPost. In my opinion, it is the best photo blogging application. It is installed and run on your personal server like WordPress. You an upload picture through admin section and all pictures are stored on the server. It takes less than 10 minutes to install and configure everything. Also you can download templates and addons(plug-in) designed by other users. I also created multiple addons like clean URL, monthly archive and Flickr Links.
