Hinglish

Hindi + English = Hinglish

‘Hinglish’ - a mixture of Hindi and English widely spoken in India. A British language expert predicts that “Hinglish,” or Indian English, will overtake standard English as the most common spoken form of the language globally. The main cause of increased Hinglish is due to Bollywood movies, and most of peoples do not recognize that they are using English words a lot in their conversation. In his lecture “The Future of Englishes” at the British Council, Prof David Crystal, one of the world’s leading linguists said that “Already, a third of Indians are speaking the Indian English language, a percentage expected to rise in coming years. With the Internet spreading English like no other tool ever, and Indians at the forefront of the IT revolution, Indian English will reach around the globe and take over from British and American forms”.
