Challenged and Banned Books
The ALA recently published the 100 Most Frequently Challenged Books of 1990-2000. According to website, Harry Potter series is in the number 2nd place in the most frequently challenged books of 2003 for its focus on wizardry and magic. I agree that books like Killing Mr. Griffin / Heather Has Two Mommies are not appropriate for kids, but Harry Potter book is perfectly normal for kids. ALA only listed most frequently challenged books. It is interesting to find out which books are actually banned by public institutes.
